Macro RAMAN

Portable Raman

In modern times there has been a shift from taking the sample to the lab. Instead we now can take the lab to the sample to save time and cost. The PortabilityTM allows the user to do just that. It is equipped with a 785 nm laser stabilized for Raman spectroscopy. At the heart of the PortabilityTM, like other BaySpec systems, is a Volume phase grating that delivers unsurpassed optical throughput. The spectrograph offers full spectral coverage from 300 to 3200 cm-1. The detector is a 2048 pixel CCD array thermoelectrically cooled to –20 °C that drastically reduces dark currents and delivers superior signal to noise ratios.

The PortabilityTM utilises BaySpec’s Micro 20/20 software.  Micro 20/20 software has an intuitive, easy to use interface and can output data in a variety of forms including .txt, .csv, or .spc format. A baseline correction function is built in, which helps reduce the effects of fluorescence interference and account for drift in background.

For increased reliability the PortabilityTM has no moving parts and also has its sensitive optical engine shock-resistant mounted. This results in a ruggedized instrument that can withstand the rigors of analysing in the field.

The PortabilityTM performs measurements using an active fibre optic probe that can handle liquid, gel, powder, or solid forms. It can also analyse these samples under both laboratory conditions or in the field environments, thus fulfilling the promise of bring instrument to the sample.

Ramspec Macro Raman

BaySpec’s RamSpecTM systems utilise NIR long-wave Raman lasers. The RamSpecTM is designed to meet real-world challenges from many different fields. It has been designed to be the best-in-class performance Raman system offering long-term reliability, compact size and ultra-low fluorescence interference for Raman instrumentation of biological samples such as tissue and skin as well as many other samples.

The RamSpecTM Series employs a highly efficient Volume Phase Grating (VPG) as the spectral dispersion element and an ultra-sensitive InGaAs array detector as the detection element. This provides high-speed, sensitive parallel processing and continuous spectrum measurements. To sample the device can either use a fibre optic bundle or slit optics arrangement based on customer preferences. The signal from the sample is spectrally dispersed with the VPG and the diffracted light is focused onto an InGaAs array detector. The control electronics read out the processed digital signal to extract required information. Both the raw data and the processed data are available to the end user.
