Particle Generation rigs

Supercritical CO2 can be used for producing particles with very specific properties.

There are two main approaches:

  • RESS: Rapid Expansion of Supercritical Solutions. This approach is applied when the material is soluble in supercritical CO2.
  • GAS or SAS: Solvent anti Solvent ( Gas anti Solvent). This approach is used when the chemical can be dissolved in a solvent and the supercritical CO2 acts as an anti-solvent.

There have been many academic studies which have successfully applied these approaches. SciMed can put together rigs which can apply either one or both of these approaches.
